Redgate School Mosaic
As part of the "Hunstanton in Bloom" project, I was approached by the West Norfolk County Council to recreate an outdoor mosaic on a sloping bank on the Redgate Junior School's playing field.
Taking inspiration from the school emblem, I embedded stationery within the design to add interest, combined with coloured aggregates & mosaic tiles to recreate the design, but on a huge scale: thirty square metres!
It is bright & colourful & can be seen from the road as you pass by.

The Finished Mosaic
With the school in the background, here is the full impact of the end result, measuring 5 x 7m, on the grassy bank in front.
School Emblem
This was the template for my design. I used artistic license with the flat areas of colour. By adding new shades and varying the textures within it to add more visual interest.
Sunrise
Part of the sunrise using a mixture of coloured tiles and aggregates.
Wave
Part of the wave using old rulers, glass nuggets, tiles and stones.
Sun
A close-up section of the sun where I set colouring pencils and scissors into the design.
Wave & Sun
Another section of the mosaic showing a section of the wave alongside the cente of the sun. I incorporated old protractors with a decorative border of coloured foam shapes.
