The Glebe
As part of the "Hunstanton in Bloom" project, I painted a mural on a fence of a wildflower garden at the Glebe House School.
Collaboration with the art teacher & a class of children bore some ideas for theme and colour, which I incorporated into the design.
The children then added their own finishing touches such as birds, bees & butterflies.

Monet-Style Fence
Here you can see the wildflower garden setting bordered by the painted fence. Inspired by Monet's famous paintings of the water garden at Giverny, the loose painterly style blends well with the existing plantlife and pond.
The Left Section
The existing pond blends and continues into the painted bullrushes, lilies, Monet-style bridge & irises on the fence.
Middle Section
Some of the plants from the wildflower garden were painted onto the fence, harmonising and linking the two elements together.
Water Lillies
A Monet-inspired mural could not be complete without water lillies! These were painted to match the existing lillies in the pond.
Right Section
A Monet-style field of poppies can be seen behind rows of lavender and a foreground of wild flowers. A weeping willow tree frames the view.
Children's Additions 1
A mallard bobs up and down on the water while fishes swim beneath.
Children's Additions 2
Butterflies and dragonflies flutter and float amongst the wild flowers.
Children's Additions 3
On a post, sits an eagle - part of the school's emblem. A rabbit hides amongst the grasses.
Children's Additions 4
And finally... the finishing touch was to paint the names of all the children involved, in different colours on the fence for all to see.
The Finished Fence
Here you can see the finished fence complete with the pupils' colourful additions.
